St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Saravanampatti, Coimbatore is a blessed Parish of Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church formed in order to impart the faith, tradition and practices of our Church and to cater the spiritual needs of youngsters who reached this city to pursue their higher education and professional excellence.

St. John The Baptist Orthodox Church, Saravanampatti, Coimbatore, is a parish of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, established to uphold the apostolic faith and sacred traditions while serving the spiritual needs of students and professionals in the region. As a welcoming community, we strive to lead young minds toward a Christ-centered life through worship, fellowship, and service, nurturing faith and inspiring them to live with purpose and holiness.
PARISH HISTORY
St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church was established as a congregation on 8th January 2008 by H.G. Dr. Yakob Mar Irenios Metropolitan. The service was initially held at the residence of Mr. Thomas, Thoppil House, in Ganapathy. The priests who conducted the service were Fr. Shibu Kuttyil, Fr. Aji K. Varghese, Fr. Thomas Issac, and Fr. Thomaskutty. H.G. Dr. Yuhanon Mar Diascoros took charge as the Bishop in 2010.
On 19th May 2013, the congregation was shifted from Ganapathy to the chapel at Lisieux B.Ed. College, Saravanampatti, Coimbatore.
On 15th July 2013, St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church was officially declared a parish. Rev. Fr. Bobylal (Jacob Kodiyattu) was appointed as the first Vicar. The church currently has 18 registered families.
Students from nearby colleges and universities, as well as employees of MNCs and IT companies such as BOSCH, CTS, KGISL, and FORD, regularly attend services, contributing to a vibrant and growing community.
